Frequently asked questions

The questions we see most about installing, connecting and subscriptions. If yours is not here, the guides section probably covers it.

What is Clash Verge? Is it free?

Clash Verge (today maintained as the community Rev fork) is an open-source proxy client built with Tauri around the Mihomo core, for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is completely free under the GPL-3.0 license — no purchases, no ads.

How is it different from Clash for Windows?

Both are Clash-family clients, but CFW was discontinued in November 2023. Clash Verge is actively maintained, ships the newer Mihomo core with VLESS and Hysteria2 support, and uses far less memory. See the Clash for Windows status page.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC" — can I still install?

That is SmartScreen's standard notice for recently published installers, not a virus verdict. Click "More info", then "Run anyway" — provided your installer came from the official GitHub release. How to check: verifying official downloads.

The app opens to a blank white window. Why?

Almost always a missing WebView2 runtime, common on debloated Windows images. Reinstall using the package marked fixed_webview2 from the download page and the window will render.

I imported my subscription but still have no internet.

Check three things in order: the system proxy toggle is on, the mode is set to Rule, and a latency test on your nodes returns numbers. The full walkthrough is in the quick start and subscription troubleshooting.

System proxy or TUN mode — which one?

System proxy is enough for browsers and most desktop apps. Turn on TUN when games, command-line tools or UWP apps need to go through the proxy as well. Details in system proxy vs TUN.

Which protocols are supported?

The bundled Mihomo core speaks Shadowsocks, ShadowsocksR, VMess, VLESS, Trojan, Hysteria / Hysteria2, TUIC and WireGuard — considerably more than the legacy Clash core.

How do I update?

Settings has a built-in update check that installs new versions in place, or you can fetch the latest installer from the download page and install over the top — your profiles survive. See the update guide.

Does this site sell subscriptions or nodes?

No. Clash Verge is client software only; you need your own proxy server or a subscription from a provider you trust. This site does not endorse any provider.

Is Clash Verge safe to use?

The client is fully open source and auditable on GitHub, and it does not phone home. The privacy of your traffic depends on the proxy service you connect to — choose it carefully and follow the laws that apply to you.
